Learn a new skill or perfect your technique - From complete beginners taking their first dip into the water to experienced swimmers who want to improve, our adult lessons are created to help you reach your swimming goals, at any age.
We offer adult swimming lessons in Lewes, Newhaven, Ringmer and Seaford. Our adult swimming lessons are focused on improving your confidence, technique and safety in the water. There's no maximum age limit, but you must be 16 or over to take part.
Our adult swimming lessons are suitable for everyone, whether it's your first time in the water, you'd like to regain confidence after a long break or if you're an experienced swimmer who would like to improve their technique with specialised coaching. As an adult, we know you'll have different motivations and needs, and learn in different ways to children. We take this into account in our adult lessons, developing targets and goals suitable for you and what you'd like to get out of learning to swim.
Be Water Confident – the first award builds your confidence until you can enter the pool and move around with ease. You'll learn basic core aquatic skills including entries, exits, buoyancy, balance and aquatic breathing.
Be a Swimmer – in this award you will start to swim independently over short distances (5-10 metres) gradually reducing the need for support or floatation equipment. At this stage, we recommend you also try the Adult Distance Awards – 5 meters, 10 metres and 25 metres.
Be a Better Swimmer – building on your skills, this award will see you swimming up to 400 metres independently. You'll also have the confidence to try other pool activities, such as an Aqua Zumba class or a Twilight Swim. At this stage, we recommend you build your stamina even more, with our Adult Distance Awards – 50 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres
Be a Master Swimmer – becoming a mater swimmer means you can confidently enter the Masters section of a swimming club. You'll display advanced swimming skills geared towards competing at different levels and in different sports, which may include triathlons, open water swimming and lane swimming.
